The company was founded in 1926 as a painting business in Jahnstraße in Sindelfingen by Paul Stoz. In the early years, the company focussed on traditional trades such as painting and decorating.

After being taken over by his son Gerhard Stoz in 1954, the company initially continued as a painting business.

02

1954 -
1986

In the early 1960s, the new production facility was built in Eyachstraße in Sindelfingen, where the first painting orders were processed. In 1986, another plant was added in Rottenburg-Hailfingen, where industrial painting was further expanded. The first painting robot was also put into operation here at the end of the 1980s.

1986 -
2006

A few years later, the plant in Sindelfingen, which was located in the centre of a residential area, was closed and the company headquarters relocated to Hailfingen, which was significantly expanded in 1999 with a second construction phase. The painting capacities were then constantly expanded, primarily with additional robot systems. In 2005, for example, a large, fully automated painting system for components up to 2.7 metres in length and high-quality wet painting was put into operation.

2006 -
heute

Another generational change followed in 2006 and the company was reorganised by Michael Stoz as Stoz GmbH.

From 2014 to 2016, a total of three new robot painting systems were put into operation, which are now used to paint over 40,000 parts every day. Since 2016, all solvent-containing exhaust air streams have been cleaned in a thermal post-combustion system and the resulting heat is recycled as process heat. The entire company has been BImSch G-certified since July 2017 and is therefore ideally equipped for the future.

Responsibility

Taking social and ecological responsibility as part of a forward-looking philosophy

Corporate responsibility

As a medium-sized family business with over 90 years of experience, we consider social responsibility to be an integral part of our corporate philosophy. Our corporate responsibility principles emphasise our commitment to human and employee rights, the avoidance of all forms of discrimination and fair relationships with suppliers and customers on an equal footing. We take responsibility for the communities in which we operate, support humanitarian and environmental organisations as well as local associations and are involved in sponsoring children from developing and emerging countries. These values are firmly anchored in our corporate culture.

Ecological responsibility

Despite significant progress, the painting industry is still considered to be energy-intensive and potentially environmentally hazardous area. Stoz GmbH would like to serve as a role model here and is actively committed to ecological management in the painting industry. Investments in thermal post-combustion (TNV) in 2016 led to a drastic reduction in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and the utilisation of the heat generated for process heat and building heating. We also switched to LED lighting, the use of 100% renewable electricity and increased the use of CO2 as a cleaning medium, while continuously reducing CO2 emissions. In the future, we plan to further reduce the use of fossil fuels and massively cut our CO2 emissions. To this end, we draw up an annual greenhouse gas balance sheet and pursue a transformation concept.
